The Conference
The Arizona Ontology Conference brings together (mostly) early to mid career metaphysicians to discuss ontology and related philosophical topics.
Conference sessions take place over four days, with many opportunities for informal discussion between sessions. Conference sessions consist of a brief comment followed by formal discussion on a pre-read paper or of an after-dinner talk followed by formal discussion.
Attendance is restricted to invited partipants and members of the Arizona Philosophy Department.
The Ranch
The conference takes place at White Stallion Ranch, a dude ranch spread out over 3000 acres just outside of Tucson, Arizona. Participants usually partake in horseback rides, scenic hikes, barbecues, swimming, and other ranch-y activities.
Travel
There are generally two options for travelling to Tucson:
(1) Fly into Tucson International Airport (TUS).
(2) Fly into Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX), and either take the Arizona Shuttle or rent a car and drive to Tucson.
If you are interested in carpooling between Phoenix and Tucson, you can post on the AOC Carpool Blog to coordinate rides.
Childcare
To encourage participants to bring their families, the conference assists with arranging childcare. (Additionally, there are many activities for children at the Ranch, including games and a petting zoo.) Contact Sara for more information.
